I absolutely love the way you tell a story. Nice ending...the contest that wasn't. A very novel approach.
H-m-m-m, pumpkin sauce over duck. The idea has very definate possibilities.

I think that Cecil needs a little competition . . . perhaps a retiring couple (gay, of course) from San Fran who move into town to open an antique shop that booms with Napoleon and Illya's help. I know that Moutard and Berre Noir would really resent a puppy, but I think Napoleon would make a great doggy-daddy (maybe Vinea needs a watchdog?). If Illya was suspicious about the phone calls and the mail restrictions, he handled it well and didn't smother Napoleon with 'the ever watchful eye.' I don't know if I feel worse for Illya having survivors guilt when Napoleon didn't die or Napoleon getting all banged up and having his car totaled along with all of that wine in the trunk. As always, I loved it, Sweetie!

the world you paint in your stories is so picture-perfect it makes me envious that I am not one of your characters. Well done. Congrats and a very merry xmas to you and your loved ones :-)
