What a great story. I love the original way you included innocents in the story by giving Illya his own little mystery and also the way you included real places in New York, which made the story seem almost real to me.
There is a recent book (2017 in English) of interviews with Russian women who fought during World War II. It is a terrific read and offers great insight into the culture and its people: " The Unwomanly Face of War: An Oral History of Women in World War II" by Svetlana Alexievich.

I liked how you used actual historical events for background for the couple. And, I just love Mr. Waverly! He is such a big softie though he would probably have one shot for saying so.
Excellent storytelling, thanks for sharing!

Another good one, Kellie. It's a sweet story as well as a good yarn. I love when Illya's Russianness is part of the plot and I do think it was all entirely in character for him to keep his philanthropy quiet, cut the labels off the new clothes and so on. Nice banter too btw. Thanks for a great read!
