I love this piece. So much telling emotion in such a short story. Napoleon's confession regarding his wife reminded me of a saying of my dad's: Never go to sleep on an argument - apoleon obviously learned his lesson.

I love this piece. So much telling emotion in such a short story. Illya walled up by a Poe wannabe, expecting only death and living out his final hours in regret. Then Napoleon's confession regarding his wife, reminding me of a saying of my dad's: Never go to sleep on an argument - Napoleon obviously learned his lesson. The gentle coming-together at the end was delightful, not over-played, but soft and emotive.
